this months featured band

A lifelong drummer, Mark Ayling (Turiff, Aberdeenshire) has now branched out into the world of acoustic music, playing his own brand of raw acoustic guitar combined with direct and uncompromising lyrics.

Discarding the usual Folk/Acoustic influences such as Bob
Dylan and Woody Guthrie, Mark finds his inspiration from
bands as diverse as The Jam, The Specials, New Model
Army, The Clash, Motorhead and Joy Division, creating a
sound that has the energy of Punk whilst retaining the melodic
elements of the acoustic guitar.

As well as releasing his debut album Memories & Ghosts, Mark recently joined forces with anarcho-punk band Versificator to release a split E.P. with all profits made going to The Humane Research Trust

Our review of  "Memories and Ghosts"

"An excellent early effort from Mark; crisp, competent guitar work and well constructed songs.

Mark's strong point are his lyrics. To truly appreciate the quality of Mark's song-writing the listener will definitely benefit from having an accompanying copy of the lyrics! There is  true poetry behind each song on which is  overall a very good effort and well worth a listen!

We're already looking forward to Mark's future releases."- SM
